Istanbul - And so the lure of the Far Orient continues, with the private club-hospitality group opening its newest outpost in Istanbul. And what a dramatic entrance it is making, restoring the 19th century Palazzo Corpi and adding a glass building annex in the Beyoğlu district. It has several vantage points overlooking the Golden Horn and its double rooftop pools gives poolside (or in pool) drinking a whole new meaning.
The largest of any of the houses, this three-building complex retains much of its Ottoman character but updating it with the archetypal Soho House-sophisticated simplicity and private club chic. It also houses the Embassy Club, with its name and interiors in the 1930s-New York speakeasy style aptly paying homage to its diplomatic history of being the American namesake for a century until 2003. Opened just last month to much fanfare, this Soho House has other facilities that are only available to members and with members-only rates that can be substantially lower than the rack rates, it may be worthwhile to become a member.
